Storytelling & Structure

Pulitzer Prize winning author Frank McCourt said, “Everyone has a story to tell. All you have to do is write it.” Sounds easy enough, but with a lifetime full of stories, how do you know where to start? This class is that start!
Each week, you’ll use writing exercises to generate material inspired by your own lived experience and get feedback in real-time. You’ll practice listening to your unique artistic voice, giving it structure, and translating it into a dynamic performance piece. This class takes you from sitting in front of a blank page to standing in front of an audience, performing a fully realized performance piece inspired by your life.
Prerequisite: None.
You’ll Learn HOW TO:
· Generate ideas.
· Structure a story.
· Get to the heart of what your story is about.
· Find the FUN!
What You’ll Get:
· An intimate setting, classes are capped at 12
· Six, 3-hour classes
· Specific, individual feedback
· A performance piece of your own creation
· A showcase performance featuring your work.
When?
· CLASSES: Mondays, 6 – 9PM | March 30th – May 4th
· SHOWCASE: Monday May 11th, 7PM

The Work

In this class, each artist leads their own creative development, receiving feedback from the group. We maximize space to explore and discover what your piece needs to see its full potential. If you hope to create a solo show, this is an excellent place, space, and opportunity to develop your work.
Each class, you’ll present a piece to the group, get feedback through free association, have you ideas affirmed and see new layers and depth. As your piece develops, we will explore how to add theatricality using light and sound.
Prerequisite: Storytelling & Structure and Motion & Emotion
You’ll Learn HOW TO:
· Add layers of complexity to your piece through free association.
· Give and receive right-brained feedback
· Utilize lights and sound to elevate the drama and comedy
What You’ll Get:
· Small class size (capped at 10, minimum 6).
· 6, 3-hour classes
· A 10 minute - performance piece of your own creation.
· *Tech elements added to your show
· A showcase performance featuring your work
*Dependant on availability of technical director
When?
· Mondays, 6 – 9PM | May 18th – June 22nd, 2026

How Much?
· $395 before May 1st, then $450 (includes HST)
Cancellation & Refunds:
Because class sizes are limited, your registration reserves a dedicated spot just for you.
If your plans change, we’re happy to offer a refund (less a $100 administrative fee) when we receive at least 7 days’ written notice before the first class. Notice can be given via email or our contact us page on this website.
Unfortunately, we’re unable to offer refunds for cancellations made within 7 days of the start date.
